What Does Good College Teaching Look Like?
Since the 19 nineties, there has been more attention to college teaching and more awareness of what good college teaching is than there was in generations before them. Lasting learning comes from activities that require students to engage in the big questions and the big methods of a field or discipline. If all their doing is memorizing bunch of stuff and spinning it back to me on a test, it's quite unlikely that they are gong to have any lasting learning.
