Electric Chair Execution
The first execution via electric chair on a person was carried out. A man named william kemler had been convicted of murdering his girl friend, tilly zeagler with a hatchet in front of like enough witnesses to easily put him away. His electrocution did not go well and there were debates about whether he was brain dead and actually felt any pain sensation. In the months and years that followed this first electric chair execution, the entire process was tweaked a bit here and there to avoid a repeat of what happened with kemler. And death by electric chair became a very common method of execution in the us. But i think one of the things that surprised me the most
