The Problem With Gold and Silver Coins

Gold and silver coins can potentially fulfill that as a way of transacting between people without necessarily reverting to dollars. Once you have it, you're like, eh, it might go up in the future and I want to keep it. And so while from the perspective of a short-range investment, having your investment drop in value by 50%, that's a pretty bad investment. That doesn't say anything though about the long-term future.
