Silico wanted Rome to pay off barbarians and thus leave him free to kill some Romans who were fighting his countrymen. Silico stuck around in Ravenna to keep an eye on Honorius because the emperor was kind of weak-willed. And then following the death of silico, Italy sort of went into a genocidal frenzy, killing any goth they could get their hands on.
