The Importance of the Draft in Team Building
The draft is obviously the primary way to get stars in the NBA still. I wonder what it does to the trade market because it puts an onus on especially these high spending teams to retain their draft picks. Retaining your draft picks and having cheap guys on salary that can be building blocks for your team earlier. The fact that, you know, you can't, it's now harder to move draft picks basically. All of this says to me that the draft is more important now than it was a week ago before this agreement.
