Recovering Christian Character

The title of the book, recovering Christian character, is meant to suggest that he thought that a crucial way of thinking about the difference between Christendom and Christianity was in terms of the kind of character constitution of the person. And so when he talks about reintroducing Christianity to Christian, he's talking about transforming people's lives, transforming people's character.
