What Is the Schiller Cape?

Dr. Robert Schiller came up with a valuation method called the Cape. It takes these anomalous years of an earnings spike or an earnings decline and smooths that out. So if you're ever buying a stock based on forward earnings, you're almost guaranteed that you're overpaying for the stock today.
