The Importance of Faith in the Real World
I feel like I've been fortunate in my life to not have experienced any real major periods of loss, suffering, pain, disaster and maybe my time is yet to come. As a doctor as you say it can never be far from your mind working with critically ill babies. It often seems then as though that slightly simplistic theology that they learnt from their home church or as a student doesn't really seem to work in the real world. And I think I have observed some people who've walked away from Christian faith because they come to the conclusion that it just doesn't really work when confronted with the mess of suffering which we see in so many lives.
