Plants Reflect Far Red Light, So One Plant Can Tell if There's Another Plant Nearby

Christian Frank Houser is a plant biologist at the University of Lausanne. Each plant absorbs red light but reflects far red light, so one plant can tell if there's another plant nearby from how much extra far red light they're picking up. In other plants typically this signal will also be used not only to grow a little bit more but then also to grow away from that direction.
