The Importance of Free Trade in the UK
I agree with reducing regulation and reducing barriers to business, but not unfettered free trade. Every single market you can think of is rigged or distorted in some sort of way. So I suppose the question is how do we use our trade and tariff mechanisms better to prefer British industry? And so I suppose for something like steel, there are obviously strong arguments for having steel safeguards. But it does beg the question, why would we not protect our own industry when other countries do? Sorry, you're going to come in.
