I think that the stripping of musical education in America from public schools is like, it's almost like getting rid of pre-K. You're immediately not just doing music, you're not just figuring out what you like and how to reproduce it. I remember spending a weekend after trying to write songs and I'm not going to leave the apartment until I write a song. The spark of it isn't something that you can teach.
