Confusion and Disbelief

A man named Alan Talbot arrives at his house and is confronted by a stranger who claims to live there. As he struggles to make sense of the situation, he discovers that the woman he had lunch with a week ago has been dead for three years, and there are new buildings in town that he has no recollection of.
