The national average wait time to see a primary care practitioner is 26 days now in the United States. In states where this law has been passed, they require that the assistant physician make it known to the patient that he or she is an assistant physician. They still refer to as doctor because they have a medical degree. So they should be called doctor, but they need to make the patient aware that they're in an apprentice role.
