Kepler is a fascinating story because these things failed on Kepler, which made it very, very difficult for Kepler to do its mission. It's not like once you have it up there in space, it's free. This thing costs millions of dollars to operate the deep space network and the people and electronics and everything. But I think as an engineer, I would try my way first to do it works rather than sticking to physics dogma here.
