The Hussock Tunnel
In 18 65, a team of explosive experts entered the tunnel to plant a charge. Only kelly made it to safety after he set off the explosion just a bit too early. A leaky lantern filled the hoist house with natural gas and blew sky high. The shaft also began to flood because the water pump was destroyed in the explosion.
