The Politics of Debanking
Debtanking is when a payment services provider closes a customer's account for political reasons. I was debanked in September of last year, PayPal closed my account and it closed the account of the free speech union and the daily skeptic - all within 15 minutes of each other. All because we had supposedly breached the acceptable use policy; impossible to appeal. It's incredibly widespread, much more widespread than you think: there's a Facebook group called NatWest closed my account that has over 10,000 members. And that's just one high street bank. But most people don't have that opportunity. The free speech union may be able to help.
