The human eye is troubled by noise, and can both see false signals and noise. A computer will have the ability to see there is always this exact same looking dip over time that is repeating over and over at the exact same interval. It also just relieves all of the people who otherwise could be doing other science from having to look at data that isn't perfectly clean.
