Crew members collected bin bags of horse poop whilst being mobbed by the horses who were very keen to get paid in apples. Hamsters don't always eat their poop. They only eat specific nutrient-dense types of poop. Even elephants only manage to digest about half of the plant matter they eat, so there's still a decent amount of undigested food available.
