The Pisistratus Tyranny at Attica

Cleomene's personally led a much larger expedition in 510 BC. They easily dispatched the tyrant's mercenaries. Then, marching into Athens, they besieged Hippius and his supporters atop the Acropolis. A botched attempt to smuggle the tyrant's children to safety, probably to Lamsakis. And it vertically delivered them into Spartan hands,. which allowed Cleomene's to negotiate for his surrender. He was given five days to leave Attica, on the condition that they would be given back. The rest of that story will be concluded in a future episode.
