What Does Magnesium Do in the Body?

Magnesium is the electrolyte gatekeeper of our cells. A deficiency means that at least 600 different processes are negatively affected. The US Food and Nutrition Board recommends 420 mg of Mag magnesium daily for men, and 320 mg for women over 30 years old. Most people aren't consuming anywhere near these guidelines.
