Vladislav: Chinese elites have studied the collapse of the Soviet Union. What lessons do you think they have taken from what happened to the Soviet Union in the early 90s? Vladislav: They made a great discovery that you can change fundamentally economic system from essentially planned economy to capitalism, while keeping the old political system. This is something that completely looted Gorbachev and his cohort of idealistic reform-minded communists.
