What Is What Stories Are For?

I think we read with a sort of a modern parent paradime that wants to shield and protect id. It's just not the same way that a kid reads hansel and gretel. What is what stories are for? An for helping us tee truths or things that we can't see by just looking at them, like helping us look at them obliquely. I'm sure somebody who's smarter in fairy tales couldtell us all kinds of things that would blow our minds. i love being taught by people like that.
