Automated Decisions Capture Existing Human Biases
The algorithms capture existing human biases and embed them firmly into our automated decision making. There are probably two people that I'm thinking about with respect to data driven systems and cycles of disadvantage. One comes from Charlotte, where we spoke to a young Black queer individual named Quincy who is really dismayed with the fact that they hadn't been able to get a job. And there were two things holding them back: A criminal record and the other was credit reports.
