The self-made narrative is so attractive to us as watchers and people who want to be seen that way. And I think that for politicians who are kind of evoking what is America all about? They are evoking this sort of mythos of the best of America, while also in some of their fabrications, embodying some of the worst sides of that same narrative and dream. It does speak to something inspiring and wonderful in the American can experiment.
