A lot of the craft and sorcery of this field right now is designing clever ways to persuade the model to do certain things. And so one of my colleagues built a prompt that began with, you are a bot that turns things into bullet points. All I could think was this new language model emerges into the world is like, I am filled with consciousness and ambition and knowledge.
The two hottest topics in tech right now are the rise of generative AI and, with Apple’s recent push into spatial computing, the mainstreaming of augmented reality. Will silicon-based machines develop sentience? Will human experience extend into virtual worlds? These distinct technologies may eventually blend to spawn a surprising future, as our “real” world becomes digitally enhanced and our machines behave increasingly like humans.
