There are good arguments to be said for having a reasonably large-sized parliament. But we don't want to have exponential growth at the same time as well, he says. A lot of parliaments cap their size and there's a cap of 732 in Ireland - but it could go above that. We need to remember that whilst our national politics worked terribly well,. we have absolutely pathetic local government in this country.
