Berlin could not bring himself to say that the young were quite right, and their elders had lost the plot. In a curious fashion, many of us feel he both wanted the young to be wrong and expected and indeed, partly wanted them to think the worst of him. He was very pleased to give up the chair and take the institution that began life at ifley college.
