The History of China's Presence in Latin America

The first encounter that they actually had with the Latin America was in 1952. China has been very good at using cultural diplomacy to reach out to the global south. The key element, I believe, was 1960 when Cuba decided to establish diplomatic ties with the people of China. Che Guevara went to Beijing in October 1960. And then after that, a number of things also all oriented to China getting diplomatic recognition.
