Aethers in the Cosmere

Aethers are now officially part of the Cosmere in some way shape or form. In this quote from Chris it seems like she is hinting that aethers have something to do with anti-investiture andsomething to do with creating investiture specifically with intent. Those implications are not really mentioned or clear at all from the book Aether of Night so I'm interested to see how that starts to come into play.
