This piece is one of the most inventive pieces I've ever heard. It all ends with a lament for the wounded soldiers, a sober reminder of the realities of war. One of the reasons I find this piece so fascinating is that it is part of a set called Mirroir, or Mirrors. Each piece in the set is dedicated to a different friend of Ravels.
