Index ETFs Are Not Really Big in India
India's total market cap is 150 lakh crores, out of which 3.5 or 3.75 is in index funds. This is piddly, this is tiny, and if you say that 10% of all index funds own today, HDFC bank. Foreign institutions as a whole, hold roughly half of the non-promoter market cap in India,. That means we haven't benefited from our own markets.
