The Magnetic Moment of the Muon

By drawing extra loops in your Feynman diagram, you're adding the details of quantum mechanics to your equations. A particle's magnetic moment is usually written in terms of this quantity called as g factor. For a particle like an electron or a muon, the classical contribution is exactly two. So when we talk about g minus two, what we mean is the departure from that classical prediction.
