When we're going from our embedment in the emotional field of the mother to discovering our existential aloneness, there's a cry that comes at that point. There's a sense of a deep loss of participation in a relationship that was sustaining and defining. That puts us in this reproachments mode, the terrible twos. And when we find those structures dissolve, but moving through grief, we have the possibility both to discover in ourselves other resources as well as build something new.
