The Story of Owls Goes Back 65 Million Years
Owls go back almost 65 million years ago, almost at the time of that asteroid. You might also be surprised that dinosaur times have a lot to do with why owls are nocturnal. Because dinosaurs could only be up while the sun was up, mammals figured out that it was safer for them to be up while dinosaurs were asleep. So as not to compete with the dinosaurs every that makes a lot of sense. If ther are giant trexes roaming around, you definitely don't want to be out while they're out. Then when astroid hit the earth, mammals weren't just dinosaur food items. They diversified into new species to fill the spaces where dinosaurs used to be
