i'd wait until they start making withdrawal fom the account and pay tithing on that. That's not the way i treat my taxable account as an adult, but i think it's a pretty reasonable way to treat my kids tax-free accounts. I don't think i've ever done a big blog post about tithing. But maybe i ought to get around to doing that some time.
