The Importance of Manufactured Dialogue in Civil Military Relations

The other issue I wanted to bring up is again, this idea of a manufactured dialogue. One of my former colleagues at the War College, Professor Carl Walling, used to give a really popular lecture to the students. He asked the students to imagine Klausitz and Sunza sitting down in a coffee shop having a debate about strategy. And from a pedagogical teaching perspective to the extent that this manufactured dialogue can generate this discussion about civil military relations across the spectrum, I think that's all to the good.
