Lesley Jourdan's new book is called The Dead Sinner, a reflections on liberalism and democracy after the end of history. She argues that our political horizons have been constrained and limited since the 19 eighties and 19 nineties. In many ways, she says, our own political age is quite unique - it stems from this kind of sense of futurelessness.
