Susie King Taylor died in Boston on October 6, 1912 at the age of 64. She's believed to have been buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Roslandale next to her husband Russell,. Her name was not added to the gravestone. The Sons of Union veterans and other organizations raised funds for a monument to her in the cemetery which is there now. And more recently, there's been a push to rename the square in Savannah formerly known as John C. Calhoun Square after her.
