What Happened to the Free Money?
The state legislature adjourned without considering any of the various petitions from western farmers. The response was immediate, and leaders settled on a plan to simply prevent local courts from sitting. Through early october, amore courts across the state were shut down wand it was becoming clear that there was a serious armed rebellion going on out in the west. Ironically, one of those who argued that stern measures needed to be taken was none other than sam adams.
