The Beginning of Things in Ukraine

There was a sharp disagreement within ukraine between those people who valued closer ties with the european union and others. The then ukranian president, generally seen as a sort of russian stouge and an extremely corrupt individual, a victor yanakovitch. He announced that he was not going to go into a partnership todeae with e european Union. Instead he was going to enter into a partnership with russia instead. This upset a lot of people in ukraine whd expected closer ties with europe. So protests began, but initially they were on a very small scale. And it might really have ended there and petered out had
