Is There a Disjunction?
For Barfield people who use the word that way were engaged in a form of participation. This is a way of being before the division, before the Cartesian disjunction. I would argue that what Barfield is pointing to is that these people had a more transjective anagogic resonance with reality so that the wind is imaginal for them and it discloses the self-moving aspects of reality and themselves in a highly resonant fashion.
