The Dixie Cups and the Dixies

The Dixie Cups version of Chapel of Love went to No. 1 in 1964. The song was produced by Barry, Greenwich, Ward L. Kazare and Joe Jones for the Meltones. Spector would record faster and more material than he could actually use on that track. George Goldner's partner Lieber and Stuller were so disgusted with how quickly a hit like Only 17 had been made they basically washed their hands off the creative side of the label.
