Introduction
We are 8 to 10 years away from the Social Security Trust funds running out. The system faced a similar crisis 40 years ago and one of the fixes used then was a gradual raise in the retirement age from 65 back then to 67 today. Should that be tried now? It's got some history behind it but it's also facing some strong pushback. This is France where a move to raise the retirement age led to massive protests earlier this year.
