Acute Decompensate Heart Failure - The Square Box
In the critical care world, we've almost exclusively gone to 90-day mortality as our outcome of choice. And so that's a really good point to highlight why all of these studies emphasize the acute hospitalization and going into the hospital. So when I think of acute decompensate heart failure, I go back to the four-square-esque box, the plot, and it's got the four categories of wet, dry, cold, and warm. What are we assessing with these categories? And then probably most importantly, how can we ensure that we're actually putting the right patients in the right box to make sure they get the right treatments?
