Firmware is the enabling the hardware part. A lot of that is just requirements to make the thing sort of turn on in any real sense that's useful. But there are, like you mentioned, a lot of optimizations that can happen there. To me, I think the really interesting part is the software that sits on top of that, where we can really start to solve problems.
