If that 90% is codified, then the question of who gets to decide and who's kind of held to be the originator will linger. The oldest and most powerful varieties of the language are British English and sometimes American English. And so they tend to determine a lot of that 90%. So that's true. It does make sense. I don't think that there is something that we can argue very much against.
