Some of these people achieved a great deal. In some cases, arguably more than some prime ministers. Liz Truss was PM for four weeks last year. Dennis Ealy can claim to have done a lot more so good hessal time. All the others, oh, Portillo sleepless nights from three months old,. wanting to be Prime Minister. And so their failure to get it did torment them. Jeremy Corbyn had never wanted to be Labour leader... He had been an MP since 1983. The year Blair and Brown got into the House of Commons. They then became, of course, prime minister and chancellor all the time.
