How Did You Choose to Tell Stories of African Americans and the People's Republic?
Tary: The book is more or less chronological. It starts with the cold war era, when american interaction was very limited. But even so, there were americans living and working in china,. sometimes in very unexpected ways. I wanted to tell stories that reflected these different approaches, that had some personal and human drama to them. And i also wanted to write about a range of topics and themes, which are really the major focus of the second part of the book.
