The History of Wedding Dresses in the 1960s
The 1950s saw a return to the classic bridal silhouette of Queen Victoria only with a slightly lifted hem. The changing sociopolitical landscape in the 1960s led to increased variation among wedding dresses. A society increasingly valued free spirited youthfulness shorter and trendier dresses rose in popularity over the classic and simple. Priscilla Presley got her wedding dress off the rack though there are contrasting reports on whether or not she actually liked it.
