Most of the recipes in this book are literally as simple as having a bowl and one measuring cup. And also the flavors are much more interesting. Pistachio cake is common for example, or rose water, coconut or whatever but it's not just the usual suspects. I mean I love American layer cakes too but there's more diversity in the flavorings I think.
